The five-door GT/fastback model was launched in April 2009 [1] and the four-door hatchback sedan model was introduced at the Shanghai World Expo in October 2010. The Roewe 550 has a history, but how far away is it? It comes from a Rover 75 and shares the front subframe.

The five-door fastback/hatchback was called the MG6 GT and went on sale in the UK in May 2011. The sedan was named MG6 Magnette and was launched on July 16, 2011. Production of the MG6 began in China in 2010, with a small facility established in Longbridge, England, on 13 April 2011. Its assembly took place in the same factory until 2016.
