 Lexus RX Series 450h L 2018

History:

Lexus RZ is an electric car produced by Toyota's luxury brand Lexus from 2023. It is recognized as a "large SUV" by Euro NCAP and a "sport auto" by the Joint National Environmental Protection Agency. machine. .  The RZ is built on the e-TNGA platform shared by Toyota bZ4X / Subaru Solterra. It is the first electric car of the Lexus brand sold worldwide and the second electric car after the ICE. Model. Based on UX 300e.

In March 2021, the LF-Z electric concept was previewed at RZ. In December 2021, Toyota announced the RZ model at a press conference and announced plans to develop an electric model in the future. The model was unveiled at a press conference on April 20, 2022, and was presented to the public for the first time at the Le Volan Cars Meet 2022 Yokohama in late May.  The RZ was developed at Toyota's Shimoyama Technical Center.

In 2022 (2023 model year in North America), starting with the RZ 450e trim level, an entirely different model will feature optional all-wheel drive. "Direct4" System transmission technology.  (195 pounds taken from the same four-wheel-drive car. The bZ4X/Solterra version is faster than the bZ4X/Solterra version. Using the "DIRECT4" system, front and rear axle torque output can be varied between 100:0 and 0:100; torque while driving is between 40:60 and 60:40.

Battery is the same as bZ4X / Solterra with a capacity of 71.4 kWh. Estimated range for the RZ 450e is 320–360 miles (200–225 km) based on the EPA driving cycle, depending on wheel size. Maximum charging power is 150kW. According to RZ 450e chief engineer Takashi Watanabe, this is done to provide a better feel.  The maximum regenerative deceleration is 0.15 g0 (1.5 m/s2).

Steering by cable system:

Lexus calls the steering column with steering column "One Motion Grip" in some markets, eliminating the connection between the control arm and the steering wheel. Coil. wheel. connected. The yoke is positioned to drive the electric motor attached to the steering wheel, and the second electric motor provides feedback to the yoke itself. The amount of force required to turn the handle will vary depending on your driving style. But the total change in movement is 300 degrees, which eliminates the need for manual movement, which is usually more effective when steering. In real-world testing, Motor Trend called the joystick "an entirely new concept" but noted that it was replaced by "the feel of the speed, power-reducing steering wheel." And stay on the road.

Chassis:

The chassis uses adhesives, laser welding and strong steel to increase strength and reduce weight; the bodywork is aluminum and the battery is in the passenger floor  The e-TNGA Platform itself is suspended using MacPherson struts at the front and two suspension arms at the rear.

Style:

Exterior and interior colors available; instead, the exterior can be painted in a two-tone finish with a black "spindle" grille that extends to the hood and roof. Understripes and aerodynamic components reduce aerodynamic drag; Additionally, the roof spoiler is used to increase downforce, while the lower part retracts to create micro-vortices.

Lexus RX Series 450h L 2018:

Overview:

This is well known. But the RZ isn't your typical Lexus, as it's the company's first electric car. The range includes the 201 hp front-wheel drive RZ300e and the 308 hp all-wheel drive RZ450e. Both products feature advanced technology, including large 14.0-inch touchscreens that load quickly and are easy to use. The RZ does well with Lexus' other SUVs, but there is a caveat. The RZ450e's estimated range is lower than other luxury electric crossovers (only 120 miles each), making it the best-performing model in our test range. This puts the RZ well below the BMW iX and Cadillac Lyriq, which are expected to get more than 300 miles per trip.

What's new in 2024?

In 2024, RZ will launch the front wheel RZ300e model. Front-wheel-drive models, which start at just under $5,000, have an estimated range of 266 miles, while all-wheel-drive models are limited to 220 miles. The RZ is now available in one-tone and two-tone exterior paint options designed in Copper Crest's fun color palette. Speaking of the interior, the interior design has not changed much. A variety of driver-assist technologies are available, and all models come with two power cords for both 120-volt and 240-volt outlets.

Price and where to buy:

The 2024 Lexus RZ starts at $55,150 and can be purchased for up to $65,580, depending on trim and options.

Electric Vehicle, Power and Performance:

The front axle of the RZ300e has an electric motor that produces 201 horsepower. The RZ450e is powered by a dual-motor setup that distributes 308 horsepower to all four wheels. In our testing, the RZ450e accelerated to 60 mph in 4.6 seconds. Lexus has confirmed that Drive-by Wire will eventually be available as an electric option. Regular wheels will come standard, so if you're not ready for the yoke, you can opt out. We had the opportunity to test the joystick and wired remote control on the RZ model. It took some getting used to, but once we got used to it, we found it really worked.

Range, Charging and Battery Life:

The RZ450e uses the same 63.4 kWh battery as the Toyota bZ4X and Subaru Saltera. Range is claimed to be 220 miles on the base 18-inch wheel, while the larger 20-inch wheel has an estimated range of 206 miles. In our test, the big wheel only reached a distance of 300 km. The RZ300e's battery is relatively small and has an EPA-estimated range of 266 miles on a full charge. When you upgrade from standard 18-inch wheels to 20-inch wheels, that number drops to 226 miles.

Fuel Economy and Actual MPGe:

Fuel economy estimates for the RZ450e show it performs better with standard 18-inch wheels, earning EPA ratings of 115 MPGe city and 98 MPGe highway. If you choose the 20-wheeler option, you can expect mileage to drop to 102 MPGe in the city and 87 MPGe on the highway. We recorded 68 MPGe in our 75 mph test. For more information on RZ fuel economy, visit the EPA website.

Interior, Comfort and Cargo:

The RZ's interior focuses on minimalist interior design, removing many buttons and switches from the dashboard and doors, as well as the widescreen infotainment system. Tesla and Polestar have adopted a similar approach in their electric car models, but have achieved different results. But the RZ's cabin feels roomy and looks pretty good for a compact sedan. Most items are covered with faux suede or synthetic leather.

Infotainment and Connectivity:

RZ equipment features a large 14.0-inch infotainment touchscreen, similar to the one found in the gasoline-powered NX SUV. Lexus says drivers can interact with the system via the touchscreen and voice commands. It also includes a digital instrument display and head-up display.

Safety and Driver Assistance:

Like many other new Lexus models, the RZ comes with a variety of driver-assistance features that don't work in emergencies, such as cruise control, lane departure warning, and emergency braking. Other features, including automatic parking, are optional. For more information about RZ crashes, visit the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) websites. Key safety features include:

Autonomous Emergency Braking with Insect Detection

Lane Warning with Lane Keep Assist
